Tips & Ideas For Organising Your Wedding

The Budget

There is perhaps no piece of wedding planning more important than the wedding budget. This one thing alone controls more wedding decisions than everything else put together.

As you consider your big day please remember that certain times of the year may be more expensive than others.

For example, the most expensive time of the year to buy flowers is Valentine's Day and if you are planning a Christmas wedding you need to consider that most entertainers and caterers are booked for this season up to 18 months ahead.

Times are changing, but traditionally the family of the bride has paid for the majority of the wedding ceremony and reception. While many weddings still continue to be financed this way, it is becoming increasingly more common for the wedding costs to be shared between both sets of parents. It is also not uncommon nowadays for the bride and groom to help contribute towards their wedding expenses or in some cases even pay the total bill.

In some instances the easiest way to arrange the budget is to decide who is paying for what, and then get the account sent directly to the people concerned.

Three Points to Remember

1. The cheapest isn't necessarily the worst, or the most expensive the best. Obtain quotes and references, and go with what feels right.

2. Make a realistic budget and stick to it: you don't want to be paying off your wedding for the next five years.

3. If your friends are real friends they will come to celebrate your wedding with you, no matter how much money you can afford to spend on the reception and extras.
